Lower Elementary Team

Miroslava Brožová
Founder and School Director
Mirka founded Carlsbad Montessori School in September 2021. She brings a wealth of experience not only as a teacher but also as the former head of a Montessori school in Prague, where she worked for many years. She studied Montessori pedagogy in Princeton, USA, and continues to pursue professional development. After successfully completing her PhD in Mathematics Education at the Faculty of Education at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, she now also helps prepare future teachers. She is the author of a mathematics textbook for 3rd-grade primary students. At our school, Mirka is deeply involved not only as the director but also as a class teacher, because working with children is both her passion and her calling.
Fraser Chirnside
English Teacher
Fraser comes from New Zealand and has been living and teaching in Karlovy Vary for many years. At our school, he leads English lessons for lower elementary students as well as Music classes and Physical Education. His natural use of the language and creative approach offers pupils a unique opportunity to learn English in an effortless and intuitive way. With a professional background in media and communications, Fraser enriches his teaching with original ideas and modern methods that inspire curiosity and engagement.
Michaela Houšková
Teaching Assistant & After-school Educator
Michaela holds a degree in Education with a focus on Art and Drama. She has also completed a range of professional development courses, including communication with visually and hearing-impaired individuals, conflict resolution, and first aid for educational staff. Since 2014, she has worked as a teaching assistant and after-school educator. After the birth of her own children, she developed a strong interest in Montessori pedagogy and its individualized approach to students.
Adriana Chymčáková
Teaching Assistant
Adriana is a third-year student of Social Pedagogy at the Hussite Theological Faculty of Charles University. She has gained hands-on experience in primary schools as well as through her work as a leader of children’s camps and day camps. In her role as a teaching assistant, Adriana sees her work as more than just support during lessons – for her, it is a space for listening, understanding, and encouragement. She believes that when we offer children trust and a sense of safety, they can achieve even what they do not yet believe they are capable of. And it is in this belief that she finds the true meaning of her work.

Upper Elementary Team

Veronika Černíková
Teacher of Czech language, French, and humanities subjects
Veronika studied Art History and French Language and Literature at Masaryk University in Brno. Her deep interest in literature led her to pursue and complete a doctoral degree in the field. During her studies, she worked with students with visual impairments, and later taught future teachers at universities in Plzeň and České Budějovice. Over time, she developed a strong interest in the Montessori approach to education, which she sees as deeply meaningful and respectful. At our school, Veronika teaches Czech language, French, and other humanities subjects.
Robert Elish Tau
English Teacher
Originally from California, Robert has called Karlovy Vary his second home for many years. He has been teaching English for over fifteen years, and through his experience, he helps children gain confidence and joy in using a foreign language. Robert believes that learning should be lively, practical, and connected to everyday life. In his lessons, he brings not only his language skills but also his passion for music and visual arts. Thanks to this, English becomes a gateway to creativity, discovery, and new experiences. At our school, Robert teaches English and also supports pupils in other subjects taught in English.
Zuzana Frantová
Chemistry and Physical Education Teacher
Zuzana graduated from the Secondary Pedagogical School in Karlovy Vary and is currently continuing her studies at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň, where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Mathematics Education. She is a young and enthusiastic teacher-in-training who brings fresh energy, curiosity, and a natural interest in the world to her teaching. Zuzana encourages discovery, experimentation, and making connections between natural phenomena, helping pupils understand science in a meaningful and engaging way.
Ondřej Bednář
Physics Teacher
Ondřej graduated from the Secondary Pedagogical School in Karlovy Vary and is currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Mathematics Education at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň. He approaches the natural sciences with deep interest and is committed to showing pupils just how interconnected and fascinating the world around us truly is. Ondřej supports a natural learning approach that encourages independent thinking and discovery.
Jana Blažková
School Assistent
Jana graduated in Leisure Time Pedagogy from the Theological Faculty of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. During her studies, she gained valuable experience working with children of various ages in children’s groups, kindergartens, and after-school clubs. She is currently continuing her studies in social work. Since 2019, Jana has worked as an educational practitioner at the House of Children and Youth, where she leads interest clubs and day camps. At our school, she works as a school assistant, placing great emphasis on patience, individual approach, and supporting each child’s development.
